I painted this waterfall for my wife, to cheer up the drab delivery room where she gave birth to our daughter. I put the painting directly in her line of sight where she could focus on it...to help bring her to a quiet, calm place, far from the agony of childbirth.
To this day she can't look at it without getting sick to her stomach.

wow, that is really sweet of you to do that for your wife. Lol, I am glad you use your painting skills to help her during the time of need. Also, I really don't blame her for feeling sick when she sees it. By the way is the painting hung in the house ?
This one kind or remind me of Frazetta, only without the creatures and characters.. gorgeous painting!
Okay, this just made my day.....wow!!! Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous!
hehehe... a very funny story to go with another beautiful piece.
Anna,
It's not hung.
Kinman,
I love Frazetta!!! Thank you:)
Steve,
Glad it made your day...wish I could say the same about my wife's day:)
Bobby,
Thanks! Definitely considering your offer from yesterday. We'll talk.
Thank you for posting such amazing work. Your blog is a morning must.
Hee hee hee hee...I admit I cackled when I read the story. It is, however, an absolutely gorgeous painting and that was lovely of you to paint it for your wife!

HA HA HA . . . real good,
MAC
looks great. i really like how you kept the intrinsic whiteness of the water the focal point, surrounded by subtle desaturated colors. again nice work. by the way how does one contact you. i couldn't find your contact info. mine is groovehappy@hotmail.com. i'm a concept artist and i live in the same area you do and i would like to ask you about your work further.

hey Paul,
your work is awesome as usual. we met briefly while at Sony together (i introduced you to Dice Tsutsumi)...thanks for sharing this blog.
cheers,
what's the medium? Oil or acrylic?
"What's the medium? Oil or acrylic?"
I'll take that as a compliment. Acrylic.
Beautiful piece, Paul! Hopefully we get to see more of your personal work!
Hahahahah !.Beautiful painting .
Great story .
thanx for sharing that story Paul, too bad such an amazing piece elicits such an uneasy reaction....and that reaction may be so from your wife but for all of us its so inspirational and "calming" ...well like I said...its calming for us...
(so many things I love but especially love the reflected light on the water .....genius!)
what is the medium?
oh whoops.....I now see...acrylic...I would have first asked oil but considering you painted it specifically for your wife in the delivery room then there is no way an oil would dry in time....great brushwork btw
Just beautiful waterfall paint!
I love it!

-The idea you had for her was great!!.. so bad she feels sick now when she sees it..
